A local developer is bringing affordable housing to Portland's Martin Luther King Boulevard, with support from the Portland Development Commission, US Bank, the state of Oregon and the Housing Authority of Portland. Armstrong Stafford LLC is constructing the six-story, 85-unit building on a site previously occupied by a used-appliance business.

Designed by DECA Architecture, the project will attempt to qualify for the gold level in the U.S. Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program, according to the Portland Business Journal.
