The Corky McMillin Cos. broke ground on a 104,397-square-foot class A office building in the 360-acre Liberty Station mixed-use development located in San Diego, Calif. The three-story structure is designed to achieve a LEED certification and is scheduled for 2009 completion. Situated in the Liberty Station Office District, Building 902 is designed by KMA Architecture & Engineering and will join six other completed Liberty Station office buildings that are currently 100 percent leased. Upon completion, the Liberty Station Office District will consist of seven buildings totaling 380,000 square feet of office space on 22 acres. BYCOR General Contractors built all six Office District buildings and is overseeing construction for Building 902. Developed on the former Naval Training Center site in Point Loma, the Liberty Station master-plan consists of approximately 350,000 square feet of retail shops and restaurants, a 28-acre arts and cultural district, 125 acres of parks and open space, 349 single family homes, a 22-acre educational campus anchored by High Tech High as well as Hilton Homewood Suites, Courtyard by Marriot and a proposed Nickelodeon Resort by Marriot. Liberty Station retail tenants include Vons, Trader Joes, Wine Steals, Ace Hardware, Solare Ristorante and Lounge, Oggis Pizza & Brewing Co., Starbucks, Subway, Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza and Mellow Wine Bar. In addition to the Office District, Liberty Station also has approximately 12,000 square feet of office space available for lease plus 15,000 square feet of office space in the newly developed Liberty Marketplace, a joint venture between developer C.W. Clark and McMillin. Available office spaces throughout Liberty Station range from 1,000 square feet to 24,000 square feet.
